Mikrotik User Manager With PPPoE Server

mikrotik user managerA few days back, I wrote an article on howto configure mikrotik user manager with Hotspot and I told that you can do the same process for PPPoE with a little changes.But on receiving a large number of request, Today I am going to show you how to Configure Mikrotik User Manager with PPPoE server.As all of you have a good intro with Mikrotik User manager and must be quite  familiar with its feature.So I will not introduce it any more.

So let’s start our work!

I assume that you have a pre configured and fully working  Mikrotik with PPPoE server.
Before starting our work first confirm the installation of Mikrotik User Manager package by going to System > Packages. If you don’t have if, First install it manually as it does not come with some Mikrotik router boards.

We will divide this article into two Sections,

1 Mikrotik Side Config.
2 Mikrotik User Manager Side Config.

Mikrotik Side Config.

To config Mikrotik User Manager in mikrotik side, click on Radius, a new window will pop up.Click on Red Plus Sign,and select PPP in service section.
Enter address 127.0.0.1 in address field.
Enter any secret code here, i will put 12345 for my ease.
Click Apply and Ok.

Now Click on Incoming, and select Accept.
Press Apply and Ok.

Now Click on PPP in left navigation menu,click on Secrets, now click on PPP authentication and accounting.Select Use radius and Accounting.Set interim update to 3 seconds.Click apply and OK

Now open new terminal and type or paste the following command in New Terminal Window to create a new Mikrotik User Manager Customer or login name.
/tool user-manager customer set admin password=1234

Now we will made a small changes so we can get User manager work with PPPoE server.This is the point where you stuck.
Click on PPP and click on profiles.Open your profile named as default and set Local address as your Address of your mikroitk router(LAN IP of Mikrotik) and set Src address to the address pool you created for your PPPoE users.

Important:If you missed the above step,your PPPoE user will not be able to get internet access and the IP address also.

Your mikrotik side configurations are completed.

Mikrotik User Manager side config.

Before coming to user manager config consider the following scenario.

LAN IP 192.168.0.1/24
WAN IP 192.168.1.6/24

Now open your browser and enter your LAN or WAN IP with /userman e.g 192.168.1.6/userman
It will prompt you to a login screen, enter your login details that we used in New terminal window e.g username:admin Password:1234.
Click Login.

Now Click on Routers and Click on Add new.
Enter the name for your user manager server in Name field.
Enter ip address 127.0.0.1.
Enter Secret Code you out in the Mikrotik side config.e.g 12345
Set your timezone, This is the most important thing in mikrotik user manager.
Click Add.

Now Click on Profiles to create a new user profile.
Click on + Sign.
Enter profile Name.
Set the validity for profile which is 4w2d for one month.You can use 2w for two weeks and so on.
Set start on first use to start the validity on first login.
Enter your desired price.
Shared users=1
Click Save profile.

Now click on add limitations to add limitations of speed and no. of days.
Set the no of days in a week to give access in any of the selected Days.
Now Click on new limit.

A new window will pop up.
Enter name for the limit.
Put 1024k for upload and download.
Click add.

Now click on Users to create new users.
Click on add > One

Enter his/her username and password.
Enter ip address if you want to assign him a static ip.
Click bind on first use to bind user’s Mac on his first use.
Assign him a profile and Click Add.

Now Create a dialer in your Client pc and login with newly created username and password…..
